Moving with the bump
I love swimming, always have but both times now I’ve struggled to do it when I’m pregnant. It’s like as soon as I get on my belly the muscles just feel like they’re oh-so-slowly tearing apart 😖😖😖 So not fair! Swimming is always listed as one of the best low impact exercises to do when pregnant but unless I swim like an otter (on my back, arms flailing 😂) I can’t do it. So I’m stuck with walking in the water, and on the earth. And I do my yoga and body weight training. Oh and please ladies let’s not forget those pelvic floor exercises.
Current recommendations are for pregnant women to do around 30minutes of moderate (still able to talk) exercise most to all days of the week with research suggesting this will:
✔️Improve energy levels
✔️Help with weight management
✔️Reduce risk of Gestational Diabetes
✔️Improve psychological well-being
AND (ding ding ding)
✔️Make for a smoother labour and postpartum recovery. #whywouldntya
