Do you need a digital detox?

When was the last time you left your phone at home? Or disconnected from your device of choice?

While on holidays last week I broke my phone. On the second day of being away. Being so disconnected was odd at first, especially when surrounded by 3 hooked in people, but it was also incredibly freeing. All those tiny moments in a day that would habitually be filled with reflex phone and social media checking were gone and I was left with nothing to fill the time. Such a good feeling. Weird at first. But then good.

I think I noticed more of the world around me, spoke and played more intently with Ashton and pondered my own thoughts more last week than I have since before phones came along. And not gonna lie as an absolute avid texting hater I loved not knowing if I was being texted and feeling the freedom of not having to reply! What a relief.

We already know that our constant connection to our phones is not doing our health any favours but to feel the benefits first hand cemented it for me. And although as of this evening I am back once again in the phone filled world I intend to do as I did on holidays more often and just do without my device a whole lot more. Perhaps you might like to try it too?
