A #greensmoothie a day keeps the pregnancy supplements away!

Yesterday at our checkup my midwife asked what pregnancy supplement I was taking as my iron levels were so consistently good, not something commonly seen in the third trimester. Also, prior to pregnancy and in the first trimester my folate levels were at optimum level - again without taking any supplements. Another common pregnancy complaint - constipation 💩 - hasn’t been an issue for me #oversharealert and my memory and baby brain has been noticeably less this pregnancy - something I really struggled with last time!

I am sure my green smoothie habit has played a big role in all of this.

✔️2 cups dark leafy greens for iron and folate

✔️1 piece of fruit for vitamin c (aids iron absorption) and carbohydrates (abates morning sickness and gives energy

✔️1 avocado for healthy fats (happy brain and skin and aids absorption of vitamins A,D,E&K) and energy needed now to grow my bub in his last few womb months.
✔️And all of it combined gives a huge fibre hit to sweep the bowels and keep me regular.

So pregnant mamas or ladies getting ready to conceive I highly recommend adding a green smoothie to your day. Don’t be put off by the sound, once blended the green veggies can’t be tasted and when mixed with some fruit and avo it becomes the most delicious creamy sensation. I prefer mine not too sweet so use a green apple as my fruit but my hubby is a fan of a banana/frozen blueberry combo and has confirmed it doesn’t only taste good to me 😂
